Private beta released
The brand new Monitive platform is almost ready to be seen by the world, but just like any software development project, minor issues always surface that tend to push a release date back further and further.
There’s always copy to be adjusted, links to be added, an icon that would improve clarity. Maybe a box is missing or the color of a button needs to change. Perfect is impossible, but I seem to be very good at finding plenty of things to do except what I set out to do in the first place: release the new Monitive to the general public.
Hello, Pareto!
Here’s where the Pareto principle comes into play.
The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.
As I’m confident that we’re way past 80% of the end product, and that all the missing items or outstanding issues make up less than 20% of the “whole awesomeness,” it’s only logical that all these small bits would take a lot of our time to finish. This is exactly the point of having a private beta or limited preview release: ironing out all the wrinkles and getting production in tip-top shape.
Therefore, no more delaying the inevitable. This week we have sent out invitations to our current users, to join our almost-perfect product, relying on the feedback of the users to prioritize what’s important to address and what is not.
